August 14, 2015
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year. I hope you were able to spend some time with your family and friends during the summer months relaxing and making special memories. It’s only a few weeks away before September is upon us and your child(ren) will be returning to school at TFMS. As you can imagine, staff and teachers have been working diligently throughout the summer to prepare the building, writing curriculum and creating schedules for students to arrive in September. The maintenance staff have been preparing the building, and it looks wonderful. The building is empty without the personalities and enthusiasm that the students and staff bring.
I look forward to meeting the new 6th grade students and the new students to TFMS. I can’t wait to see how the rising 7th and 8th grade students have grown and matured during the summer. For the new families and rising 6th grade students, there will be time on September 2, 2015 for the students to come and try out their locker and have a self-guided tour for you and your child. Please visit the school anytime between 12:00 and 2:00 on September 2nd. You will be given your assigned locker and the combination at that time. This is for only new families to TFMS and 6th grade students.
On the first day of school, September 3, all students are to report to homeroom as soon as they enter the building. The school day starts at 7:30 and ends at 2:30. You may check Genesis Parent Portal for your child’s homeroom. Your child will receive their schedule on the first day during homeroom.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to put on your calendar this years’ Back-to-School Night dates.
Grade 6: September 16 at 6:30 PM
Grade 7: September 17 at 6:30 PM
Grade 8: September 24 at 6:30 PM
You will immediately go to your child’s Homeroom to start the evening. At the end of the evening, I will be meeting with families in the old gym when the classroom visits conclude at 8:00 PM.
For those families returning to TFMS, I’d like to introduce a few new staff members and some familiar faces who were in other buildings in our district but are now at TFMS. Please join me in welcoming:
Megan Goutter – Special Education, from SRS
Barbara Kulberg – Special Education
Lauren Murgo – Special Education
Anna Schoenenberger – French
Kurt Vernarec – Special Education, from SRS
Our teams this year are called the Black or Gold team. I felt that the names of the teams should enhance the school spirit. What used to be an A team is now referred to as the Black team and what was the B team is now the Gold Team. I anticipate seeing a lot of Black and Gold spirit throughout the year.
I hope you enjoy the remainder of the summer break, and I look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night and perhaps before.
Ms. Mary Ehid, Principal
